I had the same concerns you do lockdun1, when I was thinking about swaping in a T5 behind my small block. I did some research and found it is not always the internals that break, but it is the cases that break. From what I can remember (some one correct me if I am wrong) but the Non-world class cases handle something like 200ish ft/lb of torque while the World Class cases handle around 300 I believe.

I gave up worrying about breaking a T5 and put a built TH350 in, its a WHOLE lot cheaper and I have no problems out of it, and I can dial the car in for the track a lot earier with an auto than a man because of all the shifting variables.

My 2 cents, put a built auto in and you will not be disappointed.

However if you have the money, there is a company that can built up your T5 to handle somewhere around 600 ft/lb of torque, but it costs oodles of moola.
