Building an engine...
I have a lot of interest in learning how to build an engine.
First, you need quite a lot of money, then you need quite a lot of tools, then you need a lot of experience and know-how.
Frankly, I have none of those, however, I'm good at saving money so that wont be a problem...
But I was just curious, how big of an investment is it to get all the tools (What kinds of big things do I need? I mean I have screwdrivers, socket wrenches, etc... but what kind of specialized tools are required?) and how you guys learned a lot of the things you know.
I'm not looking for you guys to tell me how to do it, I'm looking to find some resources about how to do it.
And I'd need the tools and such to remove the old engine and put that one in... to me that's osmething that's complete voodoo to me at this point. Which is kind of the reason that's in this forum, becuase I want to know what all I'm going to need to do that as well.
But if it needs to be in the general engine forum, I apologize, it's late...
Either way, given the kind of time and money I'd need to put into it, I think this is gonna be a very long-term deal... So no rush, but I just want to know where to get started.

Buying a good workalong book is a great way to get some general knowledge. These books will give step by step instructions along with pictures to walk you through the whole process. Also lists all tools needed to do the job. Check out this site Cartech books: auto books and manuals, workshop manuals, brooklands books, sa design they have a great selection of books.
