v6 to v8
I am getting a 1983 camaro berlinetta and it was originally equipped with a 2.8l v6 and a 5 spd manual transmission. I want to take the drivetrain out of my 1985 chevy caprice and put it into the berlinetta. The caprice has a 305 v8 and a th700r4 transmission. Will this swap work? What will i need to make it work and look close to factory specs a possible.
Thanks for all your help

Not a difficult swap, just time consuming. I just finished up v6 to 388ci swap in my 92 vert. there is all the info you need on these forums just search. it won't look factory unless you find all the under hood pieces from a v8 power berlinetta from same vintage, and then it really wont matter because it was a v6 car in the first place. just do what makes you feel good. good luck

Assuming you've read the V6 to V8 swap sticky at the top of this forum:
The main issue is the Caprice TH700 won't have the tailshaft housing with the mounting provision for the torque arm. However, it unbolts from the main tranny housing and is interchangeable with the f-body housing. I just happen to have an f-body housing on a tranny destined for a non-f-body installation, so I would be happy to swap tailshaft housings with you.

The swap was actually going to be done for my grandfather and he has decided that he doesn't want to do it anymore. He says that it will be too expensive and he won't be able to drive it because of his bad back. He says the cars too low to the ground. He has a hard time getting out of my car.
Thanks any way for the tail shaft offer.
