I'm gonna say fuel pump. Does the car have a mechanical fuel pump on the passenger side of the block? Take the fuel line off the carb and put a towel under it. Now crank the car over and see if fuel comes out of the line. If not, I would bet its the mechanical fuel pump. My car had the same problem last year. Would just crank, but put fuel in it and it would turn over and then die after it burned off the fuel. If it does spit out fuel, then move up the fuel system, check your fuel filter to see if it is clogged, replace and see if the problem goes away. If not, then might be something with the carb. Possibly a rebuild at that point. But you gotta find out about the fuel pump. Post back up when you find out.
