Serpentine Belt Conversion Question
So I purchased the GM serpentine belt conversion kit and it comes with the reverse rotation water pump. I want to leave my car appearing stock and did not want to convert to electric fans.
Does anyone know of a stock clutch fan set up that will work on a reverse rotation serpentine belt setup?
Thanks in advance!!

you could always go with a reverse rotation flex fan bolted strait to the water pump. thats what i did on my 305 when the electric fan went out and i couldn't find an aftermarket electric fan that i liked. it looks really good too.

Uhhh, I wouldn't recommend that. The blades would stick out closer to the radiator, and the pitch/curvature aren't right for operating in that direction.
Look at light truck serpentine setups.

'88-up, from what I understand. I have a co-worker friend who has a '97 Suburban with Vortec 350, serpentine belt, and engine-driven fan.

clutch from the v6 hold up to what? the 4.3L v6 spins to 5500 rpm no problem and is basically 6/8th of a 350 anyways. If you were really worried about cooling you'd be using an electric fan and not screwing around with 1950s technology aka the water pump driven fan.

FWIW, I just picked up a '95 Chevy C2500 6.5l turbo diesel. It has a serpentine belt set-up, with an engine driven fan - rotates the opposite direction as the engine. That should fit.
I would be careful about the clutch. Looking on partsamerica.com, it lists the part for the above application as "reverse rotation". Don't assume any clutch will work. Oh, it's also pricey - about $140 more than the clutch for my '84 full-sized van.

five7kid,
Thanks for the help. I ended up ordering a Spal electric fan for my car. I have used them in the past and their stuff is top shelf. Was very pricy but will be great for my application. The only downside is that it draws almost 40 amps. The reason for that is it moves almost 3175 cfm of air flow. I am sure that I will not have any overheating issues.
Here is the link to what I purchased.

I am waiting until they get their new design fan in. The first design only has one sealed motor. The new design due in first week of Macrh has two sealed motors. For my application I want sealed motors.

Well, now people will know if they consider it.
Hope you plan on using relays with those electrics.
(Out of curiosity, how pricey is "very" pricey?)

You bet I am going to use relays!
Actually I am going to use two and be able to switch on each fan seperate. One will be on a thermostacially controled switch and the other will be manual plus also tied into the AC compressor.
Well $350.00 is list. But I did not pay list.

Re: Serpentine Belt Conversion Question
I know this is an old post but I'll give it my two-cents. I install the GM serpentine belt kit on my '85 Firebird 350 and I went with a 17" reverse ration thermal fan clutch and fan from Flex-Lite (#5560 and 5917) which replaced the orignal V-belt fan clutch and fan but runs in reverse to match the water pump rotation.
