Started with a rear-ended, complete V8 donor car. Originally "just" swapped it in (I went nuts and swapped the complete dash as well because of the year differences). Later I souped up the 305, then did a complete rebuild using a 350 shortblock. Details of current configuration in sig.

Due to the f-body only uniqueness of some of the parts, a complete donor car is a good thing to have available. It can be done piecing together the parts, but it's a lot harder that way. Definitely nice to be able to see how things need to go together.

That's exactly how I did my 87 IROC project. Transplanted almost everything, except sheet metal from 91 donar's into my 87.

Good luck with your project.

Car: '89 Firebird
Engine: 7.0L
Transmission: T56
First car I ever bought was a '89 Firebird with a V6 and 5-speed manual. Blew a head gasket several years later and ripped out the V6. Put in a ZZ4 crate engine with a Tremec TKO 5-speed manual and Strange 12-bolt rearend. Wanted more so I ripped out the ZZ4 and dropped in a 468 big block with TH400 auto tranny. My method was to just purchase things as I could afford it. 15 years later and I still have the car. But uh... it's still not running since I started the big block swap.
