I have a 89 camaro TPI MOTOR 305. I have the chance to get a 1999 vortec 350 motor. it is from a Tahoe SUV. it is has the heads, motor and oil pan. I was wondering if my TPI stuff would fit on this vortec motor. would my pullys, edelbrock shorty headers and my TPI intake fit on this newer style motor? would it fit up to my 700r4 trans? I am new at this stuff, but I know it would be a lot cheaper to go with a 350 then putting money in this 305 TPI. pleeeease help before this motor goes to someone else.

 

As covered here many times before, the vortec heads will not work with the older style intake. You will need a vortec baseplate for the TPI to work. Everything else will fit just fine.

 

sorry brother I am new to the site. when you say a vortec base plate, will that change my setup to something else like a carb? or is there a TPI baseplate for the vortec? also, wher do I get a TPI baseplate for a vortec 99 motor if that is all I need

 

I'm sure one of our board sponsors probably sells one. GMPP may have one. A web search should locate that. YOu will need some other stuff too. DO a search for 305 to 350 swaps in the TPI forum, they will have the low down for you.
