305 to 350 troubles, help!!!!

ok so i just got done dropping 1974 350 into my 1987 305 camaro

to make the new motor fit i had to get a new flexplate that had 168 teeth when the old one only had 153

we get the motor down in there and the bell housing bolts are so hard to turn so we were going to quit for the night. so we go to push the car back and it wont go it was in nuetral but felt like it was in gear but it will roll forward freely.

so then we jack the back wheels up to push the car and get the nose in the door , but when we jack the car up the wheels spin freely in every gear even park. this is my first engine swap so what the hell did i do wrong please help i may try again tommarow ,thanks guys

also the bell housing is like a half a centimeter on top and a whole centimeter on the sides we cant get it to snug up against each other.

Sounds like you don't have the torque converter all the way in on the trans so you will have to seperate them and rotate it untill you get it all the way in. if you have put alot if torque on the bellhousing bolts already you may have damaged the front pump for the trans but i would hope not. In that case you will have to relace the pump and maybe the converter itself..... Wish you luck!

You have to engage the torque converter completely prior to installation of the trans. Take it apart and try turning the torque converter as you put it on, it needs to seat fully. Kind of hard to explain it, but it will go on, you will hear a couple clicks usually.
