305 tbi to 350 carb...please help!

i own an 88 sport coupe with a 305 tbi...I am currently saving up money to buy a 350 crate motor that i found a great deal on.The 350 is almost totally complete, all i need is to add carb and hedders.it already has a Weiand STEALTH High Performance 180 Degree Dual Plane Intake Manifold, what kind of carb would complement that?what kind of hedders would you recommend? The main thing i was curious to know was....what kind of problems might i come across doing this swap?i am not doing this swap...somewone else is.....i am just wanting to get an idea of the problems ahead.i have already been told that i will no longer need my computer...is this true?Im sure that some of ya'll have already done this to get rid of your tired tbi...any help is greatly appreciated...thanx.

You will no longer need your computer or wiring harness. In terms of wiring, all you basically need is to wire the ignition switch, starter, battery and accessories. As for headers, go with either hedman or hooker. Hedman is cheap and is a very nice product, and hooker is a little bit more on the expensive side, but you really do get every pennies worth. I had hedmans on my 305 TPI and they sound and fit great. Im just starting to learn about carbs so I cant really help you out on that note, but I would get all of the specs on the 350 your getting(cam, cyl. head specs, intake manifold specs) and call summit or jegs. They are very helpful. Otherwise the swap is pretty straightforward. Good luck on the swap, make sure whoever is doing your swap is doing it right and not riggin anything up.

I recently did a swap like this and it fairly straight foreward. You can get rid of the computer. Be sure you have a good hei distributor. You will need to deal with the fuel pump in the gas tank. I personnaly removed it and put a mechanical pump on the block. I am using the Hooker 2046 headers and love them. As was said get all the engine specs than you can figure the best cfm carb to get.

if you want a performance engine, i would suggest atleast switching to a 350. 305's are dogs, yes you can pull some hp from them, but they are not worth fixing up like a 350 is, plus parts for a 350 are cheaper.

this i know but i dont really wanna do an engine swap. if i do do i have to switch tranny? do i have to get other things? i was only plannin on spending around 1000 or less and that alone will only pay basically for a stock 350.

$1000 will get you more than a stock 350, stock 350's can be had for an easy 150-200 if you know where to get them. that way, if compatible, you can switch your tbi stuff over to the 350. other wise just buy a 150 dollar 350 engine, and build it up with the other 850. and no, you wont need a new tranny unless your going to a big block or to a very high hp engine.
