Need help on a project
Ok i had a 305 and poeple were saying 350s have more horsepower and you would spend the same on the 305 as you would for a 350. So i am doing a paper for school and researching this topic. Anybody would like to help me out just answer a few questions for me. thanks Jon
1. Do you have a 305 or 350?
2. Mostly stock or mostly aftermarket parts?(if a/m what is upgraded on it?)
3. Horsepower and torque?
4. How much did you spend?
and if you want add anymore info that you want to about your engine.

1. Had 305, now a 350.
2. Mostly GM parts with some aftermarket rebuild (pistons, rings, bearings). Except the heads are aftermarket. Exhaust is entirely aftermarket.
3. ~365-375 HP, torque unknown (probably around 400 lb-ft peak).
4. ~$2200 in the engine. Another $1200 or so in the exhaust. About $500 in the transmission (sweetheart deals).
For comparison, the 305 had the same stuff except for cam. It had about 300 HP, spent about $1100 of the $2200 figure of the 350, and $750 of the exhaust on the 305. The tranny had the converter ($135 of the $500) behind the 305.
