Cannibalising a Chevy full size van - what goodies to keep?

A buddy of mine is getting rid of his Chevy full size van with a TBI 350 in it and I get to take whatever I want from it. My plan is to get the engine and ECM, accessories (starter, alternator, etc) and a few other things I might think I need when I remove the engine so I can swap it in my 91 RS currently with a 305 and an automatic transmission.
My questions are:
1) what should I keep from this van?
2) should I take the auto transmission?
3) should I take the radiator?

Is this plan even worth it, the van has 200K miles on it?
What else can you recommend in regards to this "cannibalization plan" and engine swap?

Thanks

D.

Re: Cannibalising a Chevy full size van - what goodies to keep?

well the wiring harness in the vans arent quite the same length and such as in these cars, the ECM location is different also, so there will be some problems there

youd be alot better off with the harness from an f body in which will actually fit

the radiator you could sell to someone with a van since thats all its going to fit they are one of a kind

the tranny yes pull that most likely its a 700r4 and 87 up ones are the better ones

it can also be a th400

those were the two auto trannies for the 87 vans

200k is a ton of miles i hope everything has been rebuilt and isnt original mileage if so then plan on rebuilding everything

good luck

Re: Cannibalising a Chevy full size van - what goodies to keep?

I've already talked to a machine shop to rebuild it. Maybe I'll rebuild the tranny too and put a TransGo kit in it (I love it in my current tranny) and swap engine and tranny in one go.
So many plans so little money.

86TA, that might not be a bad idea.

Thank you both for your feedback.
