Dream Project:lt1->camaro help

i have owned my 1989 camaro rs 305 5 speed for a year now, and what a year.it went from 3 years of no use , not even able to keep up with my friends V6! mustang to being back to where it started...factory fresh. Now i back for more speed and power.

i recently bought a 94 caprice police interceptor package with the lt1. I got it just for fun and cuz it was fast but the the tranny blew and now its sitting there taking up space in the driveway. So one day my friend said it would cool if u could put that engine in the camaro.And that started it.

the caprice 's lt1 had hooker ceramic coated headers on it, lt4 knock module, tb bypass, k&n cold air intake, camaro 1le elbow and roytal purple pumping it.when i raced i killed a kid in a new mustang gt and they have 305 hp! with the weight of the caprice i figured the camaro is 1000 lbs lighter and lower, so the camaro would be a 12 sec car with race fuel and radials and 3.73 gears.

any advice or help would be great since i have never done any thing this big before. I thought me and 4 friends could get it done over the weekend, none of us with any experience.

anyone want a 305 tbi?

Re: Dream Project:lt1->camaro help

Spend alot of time searching the forums for your future questions.

The best advice I can give you, is when you remove the engine, label everything you take off. If you remove some bolts, throw them in a bag and label them. Remove a connector from a sensor, tape it with some masking tape and label it.

Take your time and do not rush it. When the engine is out. It would be a good time to replace a leaky oil pan gasket, rear main seal, things of that nature that are a cinch when the engine is removed.

I wish you luck. If you have any questions PM me.
