Flywheel question for 350 swap
I have an 84 L69 5-speed Camaro with no motor. I bought an 81 Suburban the other day for the 350 in it. I have no flywheel/clutch parts from the L69, just the T5 and bellhousing. Will the flywheel from the 4-speed Suburban fit into the T5's bellhousing? I am getting a whole new clutch kit.
I don't think it'll work, but I'm just making sure. From my research, a 3rd gen uses a 10.4" 153-tooth flywheel, while the Suburban uses a bigger (12"?) flywheel with 168 teeth that won't fit the bellhousing.
If I'm wrong, please tell me, but I think I'm gonna hafta score a 153-tooth 10.4" flywheel.

Re: Flywheel question for 350 swap
you are correct the large flywheel/pressplate setup wont fit........if you want to put the biggest clutch that will fit, mcleod makes a kit to put an 11" disk on a 153 tooth flywheel that should fit because it uses a modifide 10.5" press plate
Re: Flywheel question for 350 swap
You will also need the starter from the original Camaro with the bolts opposite each other (153 tooth style) as opposed to staggered (168 tooth style). You cannot use a early version 153 tooth style starter because the nose is too thick and will not fit in the bell housing of the T5.
----------
Believe it or not the original starter fit on a big block and would also still fit in the T5.
