Heads info

Just starting the quest for "more power"

Couple of questions

91 LB9 TPI

Can a 305 computer be "re-programmed" to run a 350/383 efficiently? Plan to do a 383 bottom end, basic TPI intake set up with 24-30 lb injectors, "head questions to follow"

Vortec and "non" I have read alot of pro's and cons on here, trying to find bang for the buck on a motor I will no doubt be pusing nitrous through, so the question is:

What head casting number "should I be looking for" realitively speaking I can get the "113" which I believe are the ZZ4 heads, vortec heads, or what would be the 350 top performer in a cast head?Looking or anything 500 or less most bang for the buck not concerned about weight (no wheel stander here) looking for 350 rwhp "+" off the bottle and stout enough for 500 on the bottle.

All inputs greatly appreciated.

That's a bad start. The base and runners hold a 305 back, and you're talking about a 383. Ouch!

The computer isn't the problem. It'll run a pretty healthy set-up - Super Ram, Stealth Ram, Big Mouth, Mini Ram, etc. And that's what you need on a 383.

Yea I hate to say it the TPI is just so dang "sexy" all polished I cant help wanting to use it.
I was looking and if I end up going the "Vortec" head route I may get the polished stealth ram that would probably be best but man have you seen a polished TPI setup "now thats a sexy biatch" plus the bottle will make up for most all of the TPI flow issues when they really matter.

In my opinion, TPI is the best looking induction system the factory has ever produced. Fully polished, they can be awesome.

That doesn't make it the best choice, however.

Wow, never thought i'd hear you say it. A guy who's more go than show too. Huh.
Have you seen a stealth ram or miniram? Those look pretty slick too. But I think you can get some aftermarket runners for your TPI so it still looks like a TPI, but will actually flow well. I *think* 1989GTATransAM did that, but i'm not sure on that.

$500 for heads and 350RWHP just don't go together, unless you know a guy who knows a guy who can get you some decent heads for cheap, used, and you port the snot out of them. Unfortunately theres no free lunch.
