cam question for 350 swap in old v6

hey guys just looking for some ideas on the engine im going to put in the camaro. I'm currently in the process of taking it out of my el camino and i figure while it's on an engine stand i'm going to probably want to do some things to it. Such as swapping a cam. Well i'll give you the details and then i'll be open to suggestions on how to improve it.

The engine is a 4 bolt sbc 350 out of an 84 el camino(jasper reman)
while in the el camino i added a Weiand Xcelorater intake
carb spacer
Accel Coil/Wires and an HEI distriubtor
Holley 600 carb
Flowtech headers
Heavy Duty Water pump
160 degree thermostat
2'' flex fan spacer(when in camaro...im going to keep the electric fans)

It has iron heads, so i don't know if i should even bother porting and polishing them. (can someone recommend a nice set of heads??)

I definatly want an agressive cam and lifter kit...any ideas on a kit that would work good with the forementioned parts?
Also, i'm probably going to use a serp belt set up from a camaro

any other parts that would work pretty well and give my camaro some ***** out power please let me know

Thanks!

Re: cam question for 350 swap in old v6

The intake is supposed to work well from 2000-6000 rpms
so i thought of a lunati Voodoo Cam & Lifter Kit #60102LK which works well from 1400- 5800
or possibly a comp cams 262xtreme energy cam which has a basic operating range of 1300-5600 rpm

Or possibly a 274 xtreme energy cam with a range of 1,800-6,000

well let me know what cam and other mods i can do to squeeze some power out of this engine and start winning races.

take it easy everyone!

Please describe the Car's gears, transmission type, tire / wheel size, planned exhaust system, intended use, and realistic rpm operational range. Do you intend to use a flat tappet cam, retro roller or mechanical?

How much to you plan to invest? Roller cams and aluminum heads, or good irons will add up quick... A suggestion; You might consider a matched package deal.

Re: cam question for 350 swap in old v6

As of right now the rear end gears are stock 6 banger 3.23's...but i will probably be buying a 10 bolt posi with 3.73's from my dad's friend, tranny will be a midly built turbo 350 (shift kit, hurst tranny fluid) right now the tires are dunlop gt qualifers on the stock 15'' wheels but i'm probably going to go with 14'' chevy ralley wheels in the front and probably a mini tub in the back, exhaust will more then likely be cutouts and flowmaster's with turndowns ending before the rear ... cam im undecided on was hoping i could get pointed in the right direction on that(although i know there is more then one right answer) I'd like to invest no more then a couple hundred dollars...or as my budget complys, (which is not much...starving college student)
If i buy aluminum heads i guess i'd like to know which has the best bang for the buck. I've thought about Holley's systemax package but $1,700 would kill me.... any other ideas??? Once again thanks guys!

Start with something like this;

http://www.themotorbookstore.com/chevy-small-block.html

Here's another suggestion:

http://www.themotorbookstore.com/che...lvetrains.html

After reading these or similar materials, then you might want to consult with the cam company of your choice while making your cam / head selections. In the end, you need to know what your desired outcome will be and what you can really afford to do with the resources available to you.

Good luck!
