Motor Transplant ?'s
Motor Transplant ?'s
Im under taking a project. Im taking a 3rd Gen. Body and gutting it and putting a brand new 1st Gen. 350 Short Block from Summit in it. So far I have purchased a Edelbrock Peformer Pkg. for it and I have many questions to draw in from everyones experiences. I want it to be a carbureted, 5 Spd. Manual. As far as the valvetrain goes Im stuck. Ive been told that the heads that come with that package take 7.900 lengthed pushrods and I wanted to get roller rockers for them and was wondering do I need self aligning rocker arms if I have guideplates for the pushrods? Any and all past experiences would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to thirdgen.org.
With guideplates, you don't need self-aligning rockers.
A 6-speed would last a lot longer, especially under "abuse".
