what crate motor?

hey guys i have an 88 trans am with a 350 tpi motor... just hit 202k and needs replacing. i want to get a crate motor but am unsure as to what one? i want to keep the EFI setup and want this swap to be as painless as posible. so i guess what im looking for is as close to the stock motor as posible. if you can point me in the right direction id appreciate it. vortec would be fine also, just have to change base plate. money limit is aroun 2200. Thank you

here is the vin if it helps:1G2FS2183JL240314

$2200 isn't going to get you much.

I don't know what your definition of "crate motor" is, but if you mean something you can bolt in, try these guys http://www.rebuilt-auto-engines.com/...07107168238.69 . They'll upgrade the cam if you like, $2200 should about cover it.

My brother got that engine from them 3 years ago to put in his '92 C1500 to replace his worn-out LO5. Hasn't had a lick of trouble with it. Was pleased with the way they dealt with him - he ordered on line, they called to make sure he was asking for something that would work for him, he specifically asked for 083 heads (at my suggestion), which is what they delivered. After they were satisfied he wasn't going to be disappointed, they built it and had it in his driveway in about a week (they don't assemble until the engine is ordered).

I know, just messin' with ya. And why it was said with a .

What heads have you got? The GM L31 shortblock would be a good foundation.

Changing anything will typically void any warranty.
