Re: swap question
sure oyu can do anything if you have the money and parts and ambition to
454 in the 70s is just a smogger low horsepower engine not hardly any more horses than a small block of the same era
no real point unless oyure going to improve it
or maybe you just like to spend even more on gas
exhaust will be the biggest headache
hope you are prepared
i wouldnt go for it unless you knew FOR SURE you could do it and finish it
or you will be sorry in the end
whats wrong with the 3/4 ton burb ?
where is it ?
hate to see another good old truck get taken apart unless its wrecked badly or something else bad
good luck

Re: swap question
the "burban" is in st louis mo. nothing wrong with it, so im told atleast, but they are just in need of the money.
off topic, but would a 2.8 starter work for a 305. im also looking at another 85 bird that has a rebuilt motor. says it just needs a starter. so, i planed on starting and driving it before buying.

Re: swap question
i beleive this is covered in a sticky somewhere. But yes, exhaust will be your biggest issue. You may have to "trim" some of your front subframe, just below the firewall area.
