HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1985 Camaro Z28 with a 305 in it and a 5 speed tranny. I would like to know is it possible to put a 350 motor in it. If it is what all will i have to change out from the camaro? Will my tranny, drivshaft and everything else work. The 350 motor would be coming out of a 1985 elcamino. Would the mounts be the same and everything or would they have to be changed?

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

Take out the 305, put in the 350. I would suggest only changing out the longblock, meaning everything that is bolted to the 305 should be bolted onto the 350.

If the El Camino had an automatic transmission, you are going to have to put a pilot bearing in the 350 before installing it in your car. No biggie, just a detail.

Most likely your 305 is the VIN code H LG4. If so, the exhaust will be very restrictive to the 350. I doubt the El Camino exhaust would fit in the Camaro chassis (it might, I just don't know). It would be a good time for headers and full free-flowing exhaust if you can swing it.

VIN code G is a good thing.

No differences in wiring. Why would there be? You're going to be using everything with a wire going to it from the Camaro (if you follow my advice, that is).

You should get a 350 knock sensor and module. I got mine from gmpartsdirect.com, using the '87 TPI 350 application.
