L31-R!!

Ok guys check this out. What do you think? What cam should I go for?(Looking for mild-ish with more vroom vroom) Everything looks pretty sweet, me and my dad have looked it over, no marring or scratching and everything measures right, walls and all.I'm very excited and I think this motor will do well supposed to be 255hp and 350 torque in the trucks they put it in, i'm open to any mods. It's gen 1 style block so I shouldnt have any problems with my flywheel on 700r4?Let me know what you think! I'm taking suggestions for everything! Oh yeah, keep in mind it's slight budget build. heh.http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...-1&showValue=2

Re: L31-R!!

That's a pretty decent route to go. The vortec heads are good and it's a roller block. With a cam you could make decent power.

What year is your car? That will determine if your flexplate will work. (manual transmissions have flywheels)

Your '89 flexplate will work with the L31.

"Gen I" doesn't mean your flexplate will work. '55-'85 were "Gen I", but a flexplate from them won't fit the L31.

Re: L31-R!!

In 1986 Chevy changed the rear main seal to a one piece design. So any blocks from 1986 and later will need a one piece main seal flywheel/flexplate. Blocks that are 85 and older will need a TWO piece main seal flywheel flexplate. (Even though they are all Gen I's) Good luck.
