i believe that an 350 will bolt into any 305 car without modification. if im correct the 350 and the 305 are identical blocks. well it least the outside of the block is identical. 350's have larger bores and slightly different water jackets. this is why a 305 cant simply be bored out to make 350 cubic inches.

Mounts? No particular problem.
Any particular reason the 350 has to come from a truck?
If you look at the information available on the TBI forum, you will quickly realize that bolting a 350 in place of a 305 is not a "bolt-in". In order to run half-way decent, other things need to be changed.
But, '87-'95 350's are what you should be looking for. You'll most likely give up roller lifters if the engine comes out of a truck, but . . .

I'm looking for a cheap 350...... plus the truck 350s have tbi and would require no mods to run tpi or something..... i wanted to stay tbi.....

Check for 350 swap information on the TBI forum. What you'll learn is the TBI is a speed density system, which is sensitive to changes in flow such as occur with cam changes, displacement changes, etc.
The ECM from a truck might work in a 3rd gen, but I wouldn't swear one way or the other on that. Might be able to swap the PROM - I've heard of doing that with 350 TBI Caprice parts, but not truck, specifically.
What it comes down to is it appears you have a pie-in-the-sky assumption about this swap. Not meaning to discourage you from doing it, just trying to inject a bit of reality.

I guess I need to get a better understanding of what you mean by "bolt right in" and "without modification".
You won't have to do any cutting or welding to get the engine in. To get the most out of it, you will have to replace the entire exhaust system, and tune the PROM. If that's what you mean by "modifications", then TPI is going to require the same exhaust replacement, along with dropping the tank to replace the fuel pump, which I would consider more work and modification than a 350 TBI.
It could also be argued that you can get more power out of a 350 TBI done right for less money than you could a 350 TPI.

The pumps themself are VERY different. The TBI pump is a low pressure turbine type pump. The most it will make is 14-16 PSI dead-headed. The TPI pump is a roller vane type and makes somewhere north of 80 psi when dead headed.

Still needs to be changed, even with a stockish TBI 350. My stock AC Delco TBI pump could not maintain 12 psi of fuel pressure on a STOCK TBI 350, plummeting to 8 psi under heavy load. The result was detonation and loss of power above 4,000 rpm.

i ran my 350 tbi with a stock tbi fuel pump for a week straight and it was horrible the car would hesitate to the point that you would think it was the tranny.....
put in tpi fuel pump and the difference was night and day
the car just woke up

Re: 305 tbi to 350 tbi mounts?........ Quick ?
I too have done a 305-350 TBI swap. The block I used though came out of a 96+ truck. I really wanted to keep it a roller cam. Not only that, but the cam is a much better unit for performance. I hope the guy that I sold the car to swapped out the heads like I told him to though. I was in a rush to get the car done, and get it done cheap, so all I did was refresh the stock 305 heads (At that point I was into the car for about $900 with the short block). I used a dual injector TBI unit with the stock intake, with 454 injectors and fuel pressure regulator (the one that was in it was torn). Biggest problem the car had was pre-detonation....but with 305 heads, that was to be expected! With premium fuel and a bottle of octane boost, it was good up to 5200 rpm. As much as I wanted to get a chip burned, I was keeping it cheap to resell it. Ended up getting $3k for it while only putting in $1800!

I should mention the same thing was happening with my TBI S15 Blazer. It has the same fuel pump as a TBI camaro. I put a 3.1 in place of the 2.8. I barely made it out of the driveway and back in.

Thanks for all the input
Also, one of my friends have a 350 TBI out of a 1990 c1500. Has 50,000 and runs great is what i'm told.
