Going from CCQjet to tpi
I have an '86 IROCZ with a 305 CC QJet and T-5, I'm wondering if i have to have the computer changed so i can use it for a manual trans?? The motor is out of a 88 iroc. Its a 305 Tpi. I have everything i need but i'm wondering if i need to have the computer reprogrammed since its currently programmed for an auto. I'm new to swapping motors as well so if anyone can give me any advice that will help me out please feel free to put in your 2 cents.
thanks

The engine control programming isn't affected by the type of transmission. The only signal the auto ECM would send is the torque converter clutch lock-up, and since all it does is ground a circuit that doesn't exist with a T5, no problems would result. It also wouldn't get the "4th gear" signal from the tranny, but all that does is say it's okay to lock up the TCC.
