HELP with compacted heater ideas.

im buying a new 383 turn key carberated engine and when i put it in i want alot of room in my engine bay so my engine itsnt so clogged up with all those hoses. a majority of all the hoses exspecialy on the right side of the engine bay is for the heater and the antifreze. i absolutley hate how much room all this take up so. anyone have any ideas on what kind of heater system can, could, or will work. my buddy has a 94 chevy 1500 that is carberated but V6 and he has tones of room and no hoses barely. his heater system is all realy compact i was thinking about using something liek that. keep in mind i do want heat so no heater is out of the question.

Look for an AC-delete heater box.

its a heater box that doesn't have ac, i did a 350 swap in my camaro and don't have a lot of hose two for heater and two to the rad two small lines for trans cooler and a fuel line, it looks clean except fot battery and wires which should be in the hatch after winter.

Re: HELP with compacted heater ideas.

trick is to run the smallest number of lines possible, and tall valve covers.

Run the lines paralllel and along something that is rigid, it is more pleasing to the eyes. And use 90* elbows, and run them behind/under stuff. Maybe run 90* elbows from the heater core DOWN, and route the hoses somewhere else?

The Jegs unit you linked is a heater only ("...works using a vehicle's cooling system (just like OEM)"). If you want to keep your stock AC, about the only thing you can do is your own modification of the stock box. It's the AC that takes up room, not the heater.

Re: HELP with compacted heater ideas.

I can't remember the name of the companies but I have always wanted to use one of the systems designed for street rods. they are pretty small units and have everything in one box. You would have to make custom ac and heat lines and modify the dash to make it work but I think it would clean up the engine bay a lot if it could be done.

Re: HELP with compacted heater ideas.

well i fel real dumb now. cam tobe the box and hoses i want to get rid of are nothing but my emissions. my auto tech. instructer helped me figure that one out, and all i haveto to about my heater and ac lines is get longer tubes and run them all stealth like so im going to keep my stock a/c and heater. since my county i live in doesnt have emmisions then i can just rip all that crap off and put headers on. my auto tech. instructer is going to help me do that and said it will take him about a day so...WHOOHOO
