swaping LG4 to 87 z28

Its been a while since i been on this website because i mostly am into imports now. but i still drive the camaro. so i am in need of some help.

i just blew the lg4 up and got a great deal on a IROC motor and tranny.
my question what is it possible to convert it all to non computer controlled carb set up? things that i would assume i would need to change is Intake manifold, dizzy, carb, and dissable the locking conveter. what other parts would i need? or would it be better(easyer) to swap it and make it fuel injection? it will come w/ complete wiring harness and ECU.

thanks for taking your time to read. any help would be great

It would be possible. You shouldn't disable the torque converter lock-up, though, as it isn't good cruise with it not locked up.

Dumb question: Why not just put the good engine under your existing computer carb system? Worked for me. Anything else would be a downgrade, and/or expensive.

well unless your stock iroc motor is going to best 57's 13.3@102 i'd leave the ccc setup on it.

Performance: You ain't gonna get better performance on a 305 than with a q-jet. Or 350, for that matter. If you can, you've built something that isn't going to be very street-friendly.

Tuneability: The CC q-jet primaries tune themselves constantly automatically. Not sure how much easier you can get than that. The secondaries are tuned by adjust a spring, and changing a hanger and/or rods. Nothing difficult about that.

Anything that out-performs the computer controlled q-jet will sacrifice economy, or cost so much that the break-even point would be many years down the road.

The factory computer controlled q-jet is a great street performance system. Don't sell it short.
