couple of ? for lsx swap
I am going to get a 6 litter from a truck with intake tb injectors. But no harness and computer. I have a t56 from an lt1. is it compatable at all I meen can I swap the input shaft and belhosing from an ls trans or are the gears diffrent.
Also is there stand alone computers that work with these engins or do I have to find a harness and computer from the junkyard.
Would all this be woth the hassel the engine needs rebuilt, I would probly do some upgrades, the trans I have needs to come apart anyway it jump out of third if you don't hold it in. Is the money I'm saving by not buying an engine being negated by the trans cost and other mods nesasary to make it fit.

To convert the trans over i believe you need the LS1 input shaft, front cover, and bellhousing.
There are stand alone computers, but really your going for something you dont need and will cost you more than using factory pieces, and likely will take you a long time to get tuned right.
All of it being worth the hassle depends on what you pay for the pieces you are using and how cheap you can manage to fix them. Though honestly IMO unless you are dead set on running mid 10's or better NA, an LT1 will cost you a lot less, especially since you seem to already have a trans.

I also just picked up an lt1 compleat for $350. its an iron head one from a caprice. but I just thought an ls engine would be pretty sweet.
