um ok i was crusin round town in my 305 camaro dreaming bout the lt1 motor swap. and then i thoguth of limited speed. if i do the lt1 swap will my speed be limited? and if it is how umm do i "fix" the problem of the lt1's limited. speed jsut some one help me plz with this simple question

 

Umm........

What the hell are you talking about? Do you mean the speed limiter in the ECM? I hate to break it to you, but your 305 Camaro should have had that as well...

Anyway, if you ARE talking about the ECM speed limiter, you can disable that by custom ECM tuning on the DIY PROM section. I'm sure they'll show you how.

Or, maybe you're talking about the fact that it won't let you shift through all of the gears unless you're at full throttle?

ok haha yea i was a little mad at the comp it was messing up. but yea The ecm limits my speed. i am goign to do a lt1 swap in to my firebird. and i wanted to know if the lt1's ecm is going to have a speed limiter like the 305 and. it does apparently, soo were the hell would i get that reprograming stuff u can help me out.

If you get an LT1 PCM from an f-body or vette I think the speed limiter was set at 255mph from what I remember from reading mine. As for the skipshift if that makes you shift from 1st to 4th when low rpms that can be taken out of the PCM.

You can always flash the PCM's to whatever you want to (if you get a '94+ PCM, stay away from the '93s)

 

ok so i got really notihng to worry about cause if the speed is limited to 255mph. i do not think ill be going that fast haha

 

Cars with the Z rated tire option got no speed limiter and the 150 MPH speedometer, without the option you got 115 MPH speedometer or so and a limiter.

 

ok how can i look for this option via vin number. and spedo. and if i cannot find one i can jsut reprogram the ecm or soem trihng to by pass the limitatation

 

hey whats up i know im in the wrong forum ...or generation i should say ... but im currently doing a lt1 engine swap ... in a 81 camaro ... and i got a 94 lt1 out of a z28 ... would any one here know any thign to help me out here .. if so please reply ... thanks
