potential out of a vortec 454
im looking into putting a vortec 454 into my 88 firebird. I was thinking of using the stock wiring and multi port injection too. considering getting a single plain carb intake made to help with air flow. anyone know the possibilty of this engine? the motor is out of 97 gmc truck.

It's a GenIV BBC but will be not much different than dropping in any other BBC. Read the sticky on BBC swaps.
It's a truck engine so it's not designed for high rpms. The heads will need some work as well as a different camshaft.
Depends how far you want to go with it.

well you got a torque monster on ur hands with that motor. and what 87 IROC said is pretty true it wont turn high rpms but you should do some valve work, and smooth out the exhaust manifolds and you will have one hell of an engine, you may wanna beef up your transmission and get better gears in the rear.
