what year harness is better to splice for a Lt1 conversion?

So.... I picked up this 95 caprice Lt1 and am wondering what year harness to get to swap this into my 84 camaro. The harness that was in the camaro is burned do to a small electrical fire from before I got it. I was wondering if there was one that was easier to splice than another. summit has them for around $350 bucks. I'm also new to wires! so ya, but i did look at the wiring for dummies and was like what? hopfully i'll figure it out though I did wire a nitrous kit and a tach in my Ls1 so that gives me some wiring skills! ithink well any help is appricated and this Lt1 is staying FI

I'd think you want the harness to match the particular PCM that you'll use since you are staying FI. I'd also think that an F-body PCM would be better suited for what you will do, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, I'd be looking for a PCM and harness THAT MATCH. Meaning, I'd look for a 95 F-body harness with 95 PCM.

I would go ahead and get an f-body harness, for some reason I'm thinking that the caprice harness has alot of stuff not needed for the swap.

Re: what year harness is better to splice for a Lt1 conversion?

IMO the caprice / impala harness is preferrible due to the location of the pcm, f body harness is supposed to put it on the fenderwell inbetween it and the a/c box and there is no room there in a thirdgen. Without extending all of the wires, imo it doesnt provide for a very nice fit, the impala / caprice harness puts the pcm in the battery tray area of the drivers side, just need to make a bracket for the evap canister. Yes it does have a bit more to remove, but allows for a much nicer fitment.

Yes, I do, if you want a quote PM me.

If you are doing a harness yourself, and need the pinouts of the pcm, let me know whethere its an F body or Impala/caprice harness and i'd be happy to send you the pcm pinouts.
