305 to 350 manifold problem HELP!

hey guys i just bought one of thirdgen members trans am, it had a 305 and were swapping in a 350, all is going well until we got to the passenger side manifold and realized the bolt closest to the firewall doesnt have a hole to screw in and my exhaust system is a two bolt not three so i cant use the stock manifolds for the 350 motor, and you can clearly see the 305 has two holes where as the 350 only has one. any help? is their another vehicle i can get something off that will fit this motor with a 2 bolt falang?

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

Perfect opportunity for headers.

You apparently got an engine with older heads on it. No exhaust manifolds that fit older heads fit in the 3rd gen chassis. Well, there might be something, but fabrication is in your future if you go that route. Either that, or put your 305 heads on the 350 - which 305 did you have?

What you can do for emissions testing depends entirely on where you live. Most likely, you're going to have to put things mostly together again.

Re: 305 to 350 manifold problem HELP!

its the 305 with a electric choke carb, nothing special, i called the guy i bought the engine from and he said to just tighten up the bolts 1-5 and leave 6 off but to make sure the gasket was seated properly, he said he ran into the problem alot, because he also offers the service of swapping the engine, but i would never let anyone work on my car so i didnt go that route, and that it would be fine wouldnt leake as long as i got the gasket on right, what do you think? i mean shell never have anymore horsepower than a new carb and intake would add cuz thats as far as i want that motor to go anyways.

The odds are very good that your 305 heads are better than the 350 heads on your "new" engine. If you want to pursue it, get the casting #'s off of the 350 heads (located under the valve covers). If you're up to changing the heads, it's a pretty good way to go.

I don't think the gasket will stay in place with only one bolt back there. It might for awhile, though. Might be better to just not use any gasket on that manifold.
