Read the V6 to V8 swap sticky in the top section of this forum.

Read the tech article about going from EFI to carb linked from the thirdgen.org homepage.

Search this and the Tech Forum for info about building 383.

Re: Swap 2.8 to 383 carb

Before even dropping a 383 in beef the living hell out of your suspention... first of all as the stickie about v6-v8 swaps said on the very last line the v6 suspension will bottom out with a v8... and evenb befor thta if u keep stock chassis components with a 383 stroker motor even with dished piustons and a crap cam they produce too muchb low end torque for our cars. in 2 summers of driving ull have cracked windsheild and your doors wont shut right... id invest in some kind of ajustable torque arm (spohn from what i hear is good but the jegster ajustable has great rationgs for all around use) better rear shocks (ajustable if possible) panhards and stronger rear sway bars and bushings... after that is out of the way. if you plan to keep the feul pump in the gas tank get a feul pressure regulator (holly makes one for like 60 bucks) 75 psi from the efi pump is wayyy too much for your carb reduce that to around 8-10 depending on your carb and what your gonna do with the car. if not just drop teh tank and remove the feul pump... at this point ill leave it to others to help you out

And people wonder why I don't "just throw in a 350" to replace my 173(v6 2.8)...
