MORE HORSEPOWER PLEASE !!!!! 1987 -5.0 305 tpi auto to 350 5.7 tpi auto

I need alot of help, if you would be so kind to help. I have a 305 tpi 5.0 i want to make it 350 tpi 5.7. Where do i start, Do i need a certain block?
Will my upper body work on a 350 block?
Will their be new purchases other than a 350 crate motor?
Whats the cheapest but, right way to do this?

thanks confused

Cheapest? A used, serviceable truck 350 shortblock '87-up, to which you transfer your heads, complete valvetrain system (cam, lifters, pushrods, etc.), and TPI system.

Use the knock sensor from the truck engine. Find a set of 22-lb (350 TPI) injectors, although not absolutely necessary.

I just did a quick eBay search for "tpi", narrowed it down to complete engines. You might be surprised what you find there.

I did the same swap not too long ago, bought an iroc with a blown 305 tpi.. i went on ebay and bought a 350 short block out of a fresh water cooled boat.. if you can find a mercruiser marine engine for cheap 87-89, GM threw forged cranks in them, and they were all 4bolt main, 1pc rear main seal..

your heads will bolt right on obviously, but like five7kid said, find a pair of 22lb injectors. besides that the swap is quite easy.

well it depends on your idea of 'cheap' if you are getting a crate motor as 5.7kid and the others have said just get a shortblcok because your going to need to use the heads to match up to the tpi set up.. i would suggest (if you want more horsepower) A cold air intake filter headers blah blah al the usual stuff every guy knows about.. but if you realy want to up the power on that tpi set up i would port the manifolds make the 350 breath remember the 305 requires alot less than the bigger 350 as the others have aid bigger injectors. and if you know someone who does a good job at tuning instead of swapping the stockcam over get a mild after market (computer controllable) camshaft other than that for cheap there isnt much you can do for power..
