Problems starting 327 swap

Hi everyone sorry I've been a away for awhile I've just been busy restiogiring for collage at ICC. Anyhow so i swapped my 327 in to my 86. wire up everything and it cranked, but staring smokeing so i shut it off. But it wouldn't shut off with the key. I had to unhook the battery(Which fried the bolt, and burnt my hand something bad) I also noticed the negative battery cable ground on top the altenator bracket was smooking(How I found it) The other smoke looked like it was coming from the starter soloniod. I have three red wires a wire from my postive bat terminal and my purple for igntion switch on it. But the red on blacks all go on the same terminal. Maybe it just needs the two with them all of except the pos you don't get any power. The guy I bought it from ran his own wires and messed everything up bad!!!! i'm more concerned that it wouldn't stop trying tocrank when i took the key out( Didn't want to burn up the starter). It didn't run by the way just kept bellowing and making compression and trying to crank. I think wiring anyone have any advice.

Sounds like you need to start with the basics of the wiring.
