hi guys i just finished a tpi swap in my 88 firebird formula 350 and it won't start..., i took the tpi engine, ecm, and ecm to engine harness, and put it in the firebird that was in a 91 camaro z28 that ran before the swap, i also changed the fuel pump to a tpi fuel pump, now the car cranks over, it has spark and im getting gas to the the fuel rail but it won't start, im thinking it is the injectors because the spark plugs arn't wet when i pull them out, any help would be great.

Do you get a SES light with the key to "on" but the engine not running? That would at least be a sign that the ECM is doing something. Does the fuel pump prime? That would be another sign. I would also check the fuse and fusible link near the battery, that powers pretty much everything ECM related.

 

yes the fuel pump primes and i have fuel to the fuel rail, and spark, just the injectors don't wanna fire, and yes the ses light comes on when i turn the key to the on position without trying to start the car

 

89-91 camaro's have a pass key anti-theft built in it won't let the injectors fire

 

yes, i just figured that out today and am in the mits of swappin vats into the 88...hope it works.

 

ok i got it fired up today, and now it runs but won't idle unless i feather the throttle, and it bogs down and wants to stall until i play with the throttle a little, then will idle for a min or so then stall, any idea's, i don't have an exhause hooked up to the manifolds yet, could it be a back pressure problem??
