I am hoping to pick up a 91 RS as soon as I get rid of my current project. My question is however, how much money would it take to convert a 350 into a 383 and get about 400 hp out of it?

I am fine with going to the junk yard for parts. I am looking for the biggest bang for my buck if possible.

i think a stroker kit runs about a grand-1500, then prolly another grand for parts and you should get 400. anybody think different?

 

383 short block from summit is $1,800. It may actually save money on machining. Toss on some vortec heads, and a decent cam. My engine is a 426 hp 350. Not bored over, and I still have 16 in of vacuum at idle. I have $2,250 into it, but I got a great deal on machine work.
