my swap progress
my swap progress
so today i get to pulling my 305 out. everythings going smooth until i find that one bolt on the top of the transmission. (we all know that bolt) so after about an hour of trying stupid bullcrap, i finally realize that if i unbold the transmission mount and lower my tranny, it gave me the room that i needed. i get the car down and start taking the wiring harness, radiator hoses, power steering lines, ect. after i get everything out of the way, i proceed to pull the motor out with the cherry picker. after about 15 mins of wrestling with it, i noticed that the 305 and transmisson were saggin. lift the car and put a jackstand under the tranny and lowerd the car, and now the motor sat level. i proceed with the pulling of the 305. then i realize that after my water pump smashed thro my fan that i needed to pull the radiator out. got the radiator out and the 305 popped out like nothing. tomaorrow or rather later today ill be swapping parts off the 305 onto my tbi 350 and get everything running. this is my first motor swap and ive learnd a great deal today...and paying for them as well.

Re: my swap progress
You might want to consider pulling the tranny out and attaching it to the new motor. You can put the whole thing in as a package. That "one bolt" won't be much easier to connect than it was to disconnect.
That's how I did the swap in my son's Z-28 and I'd personally never do it any other way.
Sincerely,
Kurt
