Big Block Swap ?'s
Re: Big Block 3rd Gen goes the distance on Power Tour
Hello friends, I have a 1985 Camaro T-Tops and I am thinking of swapping the carburetted LG4 stock engine with a 454 BBC. Is it an easy swap to make? Do i have to touch the fire wall and the chassis to fit the engine? Do i have to make support to the chassis to re inforce the car? Can you please give me some tips and information and advice about this swap. I will thank you in advance for such help.

First, read the sticky about the topic in the top section of this forum.
Second, search for specific questions possibly not covered in the sticky - it's talked about regularly, most likely it's already been covered.
Finally, although the thread you replied to had "big block" in the topic, your questions didn't belong in it (especially since it was over 2 years old).
I believe your questions will be covered in the sticky, but feel free to come back for clarification or other questions.

The position of the transmission and the engine mounts don't change. The engine is slightly longer and the extra length goes forward so if anything, it's closer to the rad than the firewall.
Before considering the swap, if this is going to be a street car, make sure your local emission laws will allow the swap. Since the third gen never came with a BBC, some laws won't allow the swap and pass a visual emission test.
