BBC tall deck fit issues?
I had a 468 in my IROC and had no issues with the install. I have a buyer for my 496 and was thinking of getting a 572 since I can get it for a good deal(around $4K for the long block -AL heads,Callies rot assembly etc. Dart block etc..)I was using the Hooker swap headers butI got Hooker to make me a 2" version.(I had to grind a part of the control arm and the pinch weld).
Now with a tall deck wouldnt this raise the headers upward?I was using SBC mounts and I think the difference would offset each other.I would still try to re-use the headers since I paid good money for it.Basically
fitment with power booster,A/C box, steering rod and distributor
anybody tried it?

9.8 to 10.2" increase in deck height will require a custom set of headers. You can always cut and section the floor to allow the headers to come up higher. You can also try dropping the engine down lower.
My engine has raised exhaust ports so even off the shelf headers are a tight fit. One tube on the passenger side has been dented to go under one of the starter bolts. I use a front motor plate so I positioned my engine as low as possible and the collectors were still a tight fit under the car. I flipped the steering center link over to give a little more clearance to lower the engine and the tubular k-member isn't even an issue. I have just enough room to pull the pan after I drop the center link and even then it's a tight fit.
