What type of #"s am I looking at?
I am going to be pulling the old 305 4bbl out of my 86 bird and dropping in a 350 .30 over with flat tops, vortec heads, edelbrock performer rpm intake and a comp 282 ho6 cam with 470 lift and 282 adv duration. I will also be running headers, a 3000 stall converter and 373 or 410 gears. I am also looking at a street avenger carb, I belive it is 600 or 670 cfm. Anyone care to guess what horse power numbers I could be looking at. I'm hoping for at least 300-350.
Anyone care to take a guess. Oh yeah my rockers are just crappy 1.5 stamped steel self-alinging type, nothing specail.

Should be in the 400 gross flywheel range.
The Avenger is a poor choice for a carb. A 750 double pumper would be much more like it.

Re: What type of #"s am I looking at?
I dropped my motor off a Croppers in Flemingsburg KY yesterday. They build a lot of dirt track motors. They are going to bore and deck the block as well as align hone it, resize my rods, as well as do a 3 angle valve job. I was amazed at how much new rods could be off. There was a guy that brought in a set of $1400 rods and the were off worse than mine. Also they are going to balance my rotating assembly and degree the cam.
They said they should have it done and assembled by next weekend. I'm getting so pumped. I can't wait to get it dropped in. I have been waiting a long time for this. Goodbye old 150 hp 305 and hello to my new 355.

I just got a call from Croppers, They said they had my motor finished. I'm going to go and pick it up tomarrow. Now comes the fun part of pulling out the old one and cleaning and painting the engine bay. I'm looking forward to hearing her fire up.

Your converter stall is going to be a little low. With a 282 adv camshaft, the stall speed should start around 3500.
