Doing a V6 to V8 Swap
Doing a V6 to V8 Swap
I have already read above and just have a couple of questions.
I have a 89 RS with the 2.8 and automatic.
I am putting in a low power SBC with and T5. I know this isnt the best thing to do, but I am on a budget and these are the free parts I have laying around and I just want something to cruise around in.
Here is the problem, I have a T5 from a V6, I know I need a new bellhousing, but what do I need as far as a clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate? I know the clutch need to have the correct spline.
Also, will I have the move the motor mounts?

I have heard you can use an S-10 4.3 clutch disk with a V8 pressure plate. But, understand the V6 T5 is very weak because of the small input shaft (among other things).
You have to move the motor mounts on the front cross member.

Re: Doing a V6 to V8 Swap
i've heard that v6 trans will work... but save yourself the trouble, it will NOT withstand that v8 for long... just trade it for a v8 trans
