upgrading 350, need ideas
So i have an 84 Trans am that has a reman 350 from GM in it. Im wanting to upgrade the intake, carb, headers, and possibly the cam. Im just needing some ideas on what i should put on to get the maximum h.p. i can. Also i have an air cleaner with a snorkel. Should i go with the duel snorkel setup, or just switch to open air cleaner?

Just put an open element on it. Cheaper.
As far as the intake/carb and headers go that all depends on what you're trying to do as far as your end goal is concerned and whether smog is a concern at all.

You will be very limited if you still have to smog the car. For instance I don't believe you can pass with a non cc carb on there. Also, you will need to keep the AIR if you get headers and the egr if you replace the intake.
I am not sure but the open element filter might give you problems if you don't have the little valve that is in your snorkel now. I am not sure but I believe it it considered emissions equip.

You need to know more about what you have in order to know what you need to do. Most of those GM remans had truck/smog heads; large chamber, small port, low compression wonders that serve better as door stops than anything else. If that's what you've got, those other things aren't going to make much difference.
Pull a valve cover and get the casting #. After you have that information, you can decide where to go from there.
