L05 OR L98 REBUILD?

I have been given equal opportunity in picking up an L05 w/ roller cam from a Caprice or an L98 from an 87 Iroc. They will both need to be rebuilt and unless I take them apart (unlikely) before I buy them I don't know whether they are a 4 bolt or 2 bolt main. Based on these facts can anyone tell me which has more potential?

The L98 will have better heads. Other than that, assuming rebuild and cam upgrades are on the table, there isn't any difference.

Neither is likely to be 4-bolt main. That isn't a big deal.

Re: L05 OR L98 REBUILD?

OK. The guy just sent me the casting number for the LO5. It is 10243880. I checked Mortec and it specifies this block as a

350...95-00...2 or 4...Vortec truck, Gen.I crate motors and "ZZ4", roller cam, one piece rear seal

Now this doesn't seem to be an LO5 casting block. Am I wrong? The guy said it was from a 93 Caprice.
