Noobie LT1 block question
Hi Everyone,
I was thinking about slowly building a new motor while mine stays in the car. I was wondering if I can get just an LT1 block and add all my existing heads, cam, etc to it?
I am NOT interested in swapping engines, intakes, injectors, ecu, etc... JUST the block itself.
Thanks!

Re: Noobie LT1 block question
by swapping the block, you wil be swapping engines, technically. the entire engine will physically be out of the car.
to answer you question, heads, block, timing cover, water pump, distributor, intake manifold, balancer are all unique to LT1, and will not swap with older SBC or LSx engines.
now, if you are a fabricator, you could get some of this stuff to work, but then, you'd wouldn't need to ask these questions anyway.
you are better off starting with a standard block if all you are doing is rebuilding a replacement, OR, build an entire LT1 engine to swap in.
what is wrong with the block you have now if you are just replacing everything else onto a new block?
