Advice please!
Advice please!
Hey guys,
I wasn't sure where to post this so I guess here is as good as any.
I took a look at a 1989 T/A today. Beautiful car, but a bit pricey at 4500. At any rate, the motor, trans, rear diff all had less than 5k.
The owner said that the guy he bought it from put in a 1993 corvette engine, so I was expecting an LT1...which it did not appear to be. I would've recognized an LT1 after having a 95 TA. I wish I had taken a picture, but it looked a lot like the 305 TBI (which was the original motor for this car - I checked the VIN) that had a dual snorkel on the air cleaner. Is it possible it actually was an earlier model vette motor? He mentioned several times that it was EFI. Anybody know anything about corvettes that could lend me some advice with them. It didn't pull as hard as my 95 did for sure.
By the way, he had no receipts for the work done on it. I just don't want to think I'm getting something and instead get something else.
thanks for any help!

Oh, boy, another "Corvette" story.
Well, welcome aboard thirdgen.org, anyway.
No Corvette ever had a TBI engine except the Crossfire engines of the early 80's. This sounds like a plain-jane LO5 from a truck or Caprice. Assuming it's even a 350. Might just be a 305 LO3 with a dual snorkel air cleaner.
This sounds like a big "pass".

Re: Advice please!
that's what I was thinking....I have a TBI in my truck so I know what that looks like (almost looks carburated with the air cleaner right on the intake). He said it was EFI and I couldn't find anything about that on any corvette models especially not a 1993 vette.
I think I will pass on this one too, just good to get other opinions on this from people that know more than me.
thanks for the help!
