3.1 To 350 swap
Ok, so I have a 1990 Camaro RS with a fuel injected 3.1 I am picking up a carb'd 350 and TH350 trans this weekend for it. I plan on doing a swap. I had some questions. I did use the search feature, I've actually been researching this for about 8 months now. But still have unanswered questions.
1. I plan on throwing out as much wiring as possible and plan on losing the ECM. What wires will I need to keep?
2. I have electronic ignition now, what will I need to do to change that for the swap?
3. The car has Cruise Control, but does not work, I've had the car for 4 years and only tried using it 2 times, I want to chuck it, any problems with that?
4. I have the VATS. Do I need a new steering column?
5. As far as the swap goes, I have all the mechanics down, its pretty much all electronics and wiring im not sure about. If anyone has any input, please tell me. I know this will be a huge job and take a long time, but I want to do this swap.

Did you read the sticky on this????
1. Remove wires after it's running.
2. Get a vacuum/mechanical advance hei dizzy, non-cc.
3. nope.
4. nope.
5. Read the sticky. I used it as the base of my final engine swap in the bird. It's straight forward, and what questions I did have were answered in other 6~8 swaps.

Yes, I read the sticky and did individual searches. The sticky is way too general and didn't help at all, it just told me what I already knew. I'm looking for an in depth answer, not just yes or no. I want to know how to do it, thats my reason for posting this. Please dont tell me to reread the sticky or do a search, because I did. I just would like a knowlegable answer explaining the electonic swap.

Re: 3.1 To 350 swap
I did a 92 RS 3.1 FI to 350 carb swap. As far as wiring goes... I didn't use any of the wiring from the ECM that went into the engine bay. I used the coil, some other wires, and the headlight/turn signal/wiper/etc. wires from the driver side connection. Try to get the GM shop manual for the 90 Camaro on eBay. I got it for 92 and it was very helpful in identifying wires etc.

Contact me directly if you want to. I'll help you as much as possible.
Some other things to think about...
You'll need to get rid of your in-tank EFI fuel pump and install another Carb pump. I'd recommend installing and external fuel pump. You'll need to get some fuel rated hose to connect to the pick up line where the EFI pump was. I bought a Jeg's race pump and used a fuel pressure regulator to knock it down to 6psi for the carb. I also used the stock return line to keep the fuel cool. You'll have to wire it into the ignition so it will run.
There's a lot more... let me know if you want help before I type a doctoral dissertation.

I even created a gauge panel to put AutoMeter gauges in it.
