LT1 intake on a TPI motor...easy/possible to do? and worth doing it?
Hey Guys,
Also posted this in engine swap encase its more aligned to that part,
but is it possible to mod the LT1 intake to fit on a 86-95 SBC 350 currently with TPI?
I know there's something to do with an water inlet, but can it be blocked or ported through the intake, and if so how much would it cost to do?

Not easy, probably cheaper than a TPiS mini-ram, but after owning my '95 Z28, and seeing the results from tests of the HSR, I'd hafta say not worth it. The HSR has been figured out for quite a while now. It's in the forum on alternative port intakes

The Lt1 intake on a conventional 350 was a nice inexpensive solution to the manifolds offered a few 10 yrs ago.
StealthRam is a very nice choice between the looks, flow etc... it does not require the many extra parts like the Lt1 conversion needs.
www.stealthram.com will show a few comparisons....
Lastly don't overlook the NEW BBK intake, it has EGR provisions similar to the superram..

If you have somebody that can do the machine work for you it is a pretty easy swap. You need to have the intake bolt holes redrilled to correct location along with a hole for the distributor.
For the t-stat you will have to run a remote one that is pretty easy to come by, just do a google search for this swap and you will come up with a lot of threads.
I agree the LT-1 in stock form does not flow as good as the MINi or HSR however it is A LOT cheaper and depending on what combination you are going with you may not be giving up all that much.
here is a good write up on what it will take to do it.
