please help me
I'm lost. I found a 99 Suburban in near perfect condition w/o a title for $1000. It has the 5.7 vortec engine and a 4l60e transmission, but I don't know if i could use that transmission in my 84 camaro. If so will I have to do any modifications for it to work? I asked this in the transmission subforum but thought i'd post it here since it's pertaining to a lsx swap. thanks you guys

Re: please help me
only 5.7 is ls1
a 5.7 vortec is a sbc. ur truck is not lsx,
the trans is diff., since fbody use tq arm mount trans.
but u will be able to adapt the engine to your trans.

If the Suburban is 4 wheel drive, you would have to convert the transmission to 2 wheel drive, which involves a total disassembly.
If it's 2 wheel drive, you need the torque arm mount on the output shaft housing, or provide some alternate means of mounting a torque arm.
Yes, a '99 Suburban will have a Vortec engine, but that doesn't make it LSx or LTx. It's a Gen I type engine.

Re: please help me
The 5.7 Vortec will bolt right up to what ever transmission is in your thirdgen, as long as you have a V8 in it already. Otherwise just find a 700R4 to use!

No bother at all. Just setting the record straight.
And for what it's worth, it sounded like a good way to go to me. But, only as a Gen I Vortec swap. If you're looking for an LSx swap, you need to go 2000 or later if it's a truck.
