my 350 swap need help

i just need some help here i have found a 350 with the casting #3970014. my resurch tells me this is a 70-73 motor and i want to place it in my 87 camaro, what potential problems will i more than likely have and will my accesories bolt up correctly, along with my distributor. and finally will my heads from my 305 bolt up to the 350 i,ve heard this is a pretty common thing to do to raise compression and horsepower. I've also found another motor with the casting number #10066036 will this one work also?

The 350 will have all the nessary bolt holes for the accesaries.
10066036...350...........2 or 4...Target Master/Goodwrench crate motor, 2-piece rear
seal, "Hecho en Mexico"

Yes this block will work too.
The dizzy will work too.
The 305 heads might and might not fit Iv heard some do and some dont, Someone else is gonna have to chime in on this one too.

Re: my 350 swap need help

While making my swap to a 350 I found the dipstick and flywheel to be the the biggest problem. Early (pre 81) had dipstick on drivers side. It gets in the way of manifolds. Headers can fix this and make a great power improvement. The 87 should have a 1 piece RMS while the early has a 2 piece rear main seal. The flywheel, flexplate do not interchange. U will need a 2 piece RMS fly/flex with 153 teeth.

Go to advance auto and get a fly wheel for a 2 piece rear main seal 350 that is 153 tooth. Pressure plate is for a manual trans and a fly wheel is for auto.

Re: my 350 swap need help

I have an 83 Z w/ a t-5. My car uses a flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. Automatics use a flex plate and a torque converter. Either way, U need a 153 tooth for a 2 piece RMS. Not usually too expensive. BTW, are U using headers?

Since 350's didn't come back to f-bodies until 1987, and they were one-piece rear main seal by then, you're just going to confuse the poor counter person as he tries to find that in the computer.

Get a flexplate for a 1984 Camaro 305 with automatic transmission. Tell them VIN "H", because it won't matter whether it's "H" or "G" or "XYZ" if it's for an '84 Camaro 305 with automatic transmission. It will be 2-piece rear main seal, 153-tooth, 12.75".

Five7kid has never led me wrong. Read a lot of his posts during my 350 swap.
