'85-'89 had a mass air flow sensor to determine fuel, spark, etc. '90-'92 were "speed density" or "manifold absolute pressure". MAF is more adaptable but flow-limited. SD is more capable but requires more tuning.

TPI will "fit" a 400, but will severely limit power. An aftermarket system like the Holley/Weiand Stealth Ram frees up flow and power. Combined with a SD system, you can make good power and retain the benefits of EFI.

If your Camaro isn't TPI, you won't be able to use any of the computer-related harness (without extensive modification). The rest of your harness (alternator, gauges, ignition power, etc.) will be fine.

Not necessarily. Most of the problems with TPI on a 400 exist on a 350 as well.

Re: TPI QUESTION

A local guy has a 406ci SBC with Trick Flow heads and an Accel SuperRam, and he made 403 RWHP and 450 or so RWTQ. I'd say with the right setup, a 400ci engine can work with a TPI just fine. But not a stock TPI intake, no way.
