Update on 383 stroker plans!
Hey guys. Soon, I will start my fuel injected 383 engine build. Here are my ORIGINAL plans: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...orsepower.html Now, I have decided that I am going to do more of a "budget" 383, simply by going with a Scat 9000 cast steel crank rotating assemby, SRP forged pistons, and Scat rods. I'm also going to give the RHS 220 aluminum heads a try. I really want to try them, since they are fairly "new" and not seemingly popular, but these seem like really good heads, from the research I have done, and they are more than a few hundred bucks cheaper than the Darts. My changes from my original plans will save me right around $1500.00, which is not too shabby, and I will still have a solid engine that will make at least 500 fwhp with the tpis zzx cam. I really think I am going to go with the tpis mini ram still because it seems to be the favorite choice, from all the research I have done. I will also save some money by going with Ford injectors. I think I can get away with the 30's, for my setup (64cc comb. chambers-220 intake ports-11:1 compression, etc.) I can't wait to get this thing together and in my car and tuned and then keep everyone posted on how the setup performs and holds up. I'm planning on doing a 3:73 Strange rear end and pro-built 700r4 tranny with a 3400 stall. I haven't decided on headers and exhaust yet. That's another headache for later.

OK, I've changed my mind again. I'm going with a forged crank. It's worth it. A short block with a Callies forged crank, Manley I beam rods, and SRP forged pistons will run me $3000, with the flexplate. It's worth the money. I'll go with RHS 200 aluminum heads because they are as good as the Darts and not as expensive. The Manley rods are the lightest and strongest I could find, for the price. The ones I am getting weigh in at 555 grams. I don't think a guy can really go wrong with Manley, SRP, and Callies parts.
