1990 rs

I have a 1990 rs, 305tbi 5 speed blah blah blah. I want to buy a 350 (preferably a vortec series) and rebuild it to slap into the car. My questions are:
-My trans will be fine right? I only want a mild cam and some small headwork on the 350.
-What years will not be a direct bolt in to the transmission?

Car: 82 Berlinetta/57 Bel Air
Engine: L92/LQ4 (both w/4" stroke)
Transmission: 4L80E/4L80E
Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
The tranny will be fine as long as you don't do high-RPM clutch dumps or try to speed shift it.

The engine needs to be the Gen I type block, not the Gen III LSx-type Vortec. The light trucks went to Gen III in 2000.

'96-'99 would be fine.

Staying with roller cam?

Those appear to be flat tappet cams, not roller lifters.
